The Christmas markets trip is Europe's cosiest itinerary -- and its most map-friendly: a string of old cities connected by trains, each one a glühwein stop. Animated on a globe with a wintry style, it makes both the planning video ("here's our December route") and the recap that gets posted from the sofa on the 27th.

About this guide and its evidence

Published by RouteFlick, the maker of the product described here. This is first-party guidance, not an independent review.

Route previews are actual exports. An example route illustrates a workflow; it does not prove every feature or a competitor's output. Export speed depends on your device.

Creator workflow and comparison documentation reviewed October 5, 2026. Named vendor sources support the documented facts; this is not a purchased-plan test or an export-speed benchmark. Unknown specifications are marked as not verified. Confirm current terms before buying.

## The classic markets rail loop

1. Vienna -- the grand one, and the natural start or finale.
2. Prague -- Old Town Square under snow, an easy rail hop north.
3. Nuremberg -- the Christkindlesmarkt, the most famous of them all.
4. Strasbourg -- 'Capitale de Noël', worth the cross-border leg.
5. Cologne -- cathedral backdrop, and a well-connected exit airport.

Set every leg to train -- the routes follow real rail lines, and a winter rail journey is half the romance. Five stops fits the free plan with room for a Salzburg or Basel detour.

## Make it look like December

- The Winter map style is made for this -- cool tones, snowy land.
- Route colour: deep red or gold against the winter map reads instantly festive.
- Add a photo at each market -- the mug collection makes a great running gag.
- A warm piano track from the built-in library over a slow 0.75x draw = instant card-worthy.

💡 Make the planning version now (stops only, no photos) to send the group chat -- then duplicate the trip in December and fill in the photos for the recap. Same route, two videos.

## Not doing the big loop?

The format works at any scale -- three markets in one country, or your city's market plus the two neighbouring towns. The map makes even a weekend feel like a tour.
