Japan is the most-videoed trip on earth, and the map version does something the street footage can't: it shows the shape of the journey -- the shinkansen spine down Honshu, the day-trip spurs, the ryokan detour into the mountains. This guide covers the route variants, the look, and the settings that fit Japan specifically.

About this guide and its evidence

Published by RouteFlick, the maker of the product described here. This is first-party guidance, not an independent review.

Route previews are actual exports. An example route illustrates a workflow; it does not prove every feature or a competitor's output. Export speed depends on your device.

Creator workflow and comparison documentation reviewed October 5, 2026. Named vendor sources support the documented facts; this is not a purchased-plan test or an export-speed benchmark. Unknown specifications are marked as not verified. Confirm current terms before buying.

## The routes

- One week (the golden route): Tokyo -> Hakone -> Kyoto -> Osaka. Four stops, all rail, no filler.
- Two weeks: add Nara, Hiroshima and Miyajima going south -- the classic first-timer arc.
- Deeper cuts: Kanazawa and Takayama for the alpine route; Sapporo by flight for a ski add-on; Naha for the Okinawa escape.

## The look that fits Japan

- Map style: Vintage suits the temples-and-gardens trip; Vivid for the neon-and-Reels version.
- Camera: Cinematic gives each city its dwell -- right for a trip where the stops are the point.
- Vehicle: the train, obviously. The rail legs follow real lines, so Tokyo->Kyoto reads as the shinkansen.
- Emoji labels: 🗼 ⛩ 🦌 🏯 -- Japan's stops practically label themselves.

## Settings to copy

1. Speed 1x for up to 6 stops, 1.5x beyond that.
2. Start and end zoom both on -- the pull-out that ends on the whole archipelago is the money shot.
3. Distances in km; hide them if you prefer the clean look -- Japan videos are usually about places, not mileage.
4. Two photos per stop maximum. Japan trips generate thousands; the video needs the two best.

💡 Flying in? Add your home city as stop one. The long-haul arc into Tokyo is the best cold open a Japan video can have.

Build it once, export vertical for Reels and widescreen for the family -- and the same trip file is ready to extend when you inevitably go back.
