Foliage season is the one trip where timing is the itinerary. The colour starts in the northern mountains in late September and rolls south and downhill for three weeks, so a leaf-peeping route is really a chase -- and a chase is exactly what animates well. Book the inns in August, build the route now, and in October you'll only have to drop the photos in.

About this guide and its evidence

Published by RouteFlick, the maker of the product described here. This is first-party guidance, not an independent review.

Route previews are actual exports. An example route illustrates a workflow; it does not prove every feature or a competitor's output. Export speed depends on your device.

Creator workflow and comparison documentation reviewed October 5, 2026. Named vendor sources support the documented facts; this is not a purchased-plan test or an export-speed benchmark. Unknown specifications are marked as not verified. Confirm current terms before buying.

## The route

- The classic loop: Boston -> North Conway -> Franconia Notch -> Stowe -> Woodstock -> Lenox -> Boston. Seven stops, one week, and it tracks the colour from north to south.
- The long weekend cut: Boston -> North Conway -> Franconia Notch -> Boston. Three days, and the White Mountains do all the work.
- The completist: add Bar Harbor at the top for Acadia, or Litchfield and the Hudson Valley on the way home.

Set every leg to drive. Real road routing matters more here than almost anywhere else -- the notch roads and the Kancamagus are the scenery, and a straight line over the mountains throws away the whole point of the trip.

## The autumn look

- Satellite is the free-plan pick -- the October canopy is genuinely visible in the imagery.
- Vintage (Pro) is the better one: it grades the whole video warm, which is what your eye remembers of the season anyway.
- Route colour: deep amber or rust. Skip red -- it fights the trees instead of sitting on them.
- Terrain up (Pro) -- the Whites and the Greens are what separate this from a drive through farmland.
- Emoji labels: 🍁 ⛰ 🥧 🎃 🍎. The pie and the apple are not a joke; they're half the trip.

## Settings to copy

1. Speed 1x -- this is a slow trip and the video should feel like one. The whole loop lands around 25 seconds.
2. Miles on. New England distances are small, and the number surprises people who assumed it was a marathon.
3. One photo per stop, taken at the stop. Six orange trees in a row reads as a slideshow; six orange trees at six pinned locations reads as a journey.
4. Cinematic camera, start and end zoom on -- the loop closes on Boston and replays seamlessly.

## Build it before you go

The best version of this video is made twice. Build the stops-only cut in August and send it to whoever you're travelling with -- it settles the argument about the order better than a map screenshot ever does. Then duplicate the trip in October and fill in the photos. The second export takes five minutes because the route already exists.

💡 Driving south-to-north instead? Reorder the stops and the animation plays your direction -- but the north-first order is the one that matches how the colour actually moves, and the video reads better for it.
