The most common mistake in travel map videos isn't the map -- it's the pacing. Too slow and viewers swipe; too fast and the journey doesn't register. Here's what actually works per platform, and the exact settings to get there.

About this guide and its evidence

Published by RouteFlick, the maker of the product described here. This is first-party guidance, not an independent review.

Route previews are actual exports. An example route illustrates a workflow; it does not prove every feature or a competitor's output. Export speed depends on your device.

Creator workflow and comparison documentation reviewed October 5, 2026. Named vendor sources support the documented facts; this is not a purchased-plan test or an export-speed benchmark. Unknown specifications are marked as not verified. Confirm current terms before buying.

## Length by platform

- Reels / TikTok: 15-35 seconds. The animation should complete before the first replay -- loops are rewarded.
- YouTube Shorts: up to ~45 seconds works if the route keeps developing.
- YouTube intros: 20-40 seconds as a cold open before your talking head or footage.
- Wedding / event screens: 60-90 seconds is fine -- a captive audience watches longer.

## Pacing the stops

A good default is 2-3 seconds of travel per leg with a short dwell at each stop -- enough to read the label and register the photo, not enough to stall. Long routes with many stops should spend less time per leg, not more total time: 12 stops at 2 seconds beats 12 stops at 4.

## The settings that matter

1. Speed control: 1x for 5-7 stops; 1.5-2x for big multi-country routes; 0.5x only for reveals, where slow is the point.
2. Start/end zoom: keep both on -- the zoom-in from space and the pull-out at the end give the video a proper opening and close.
3. Camera style: Flow (direct route-following) for short punchy Reels; Cinematic when photos need their moment.

💡 Watch your export once with the sound off. If any moment makes you want to skip, shorten that leg -- viewers feel the same thing three times faster.

## The loop trick

On Reels and TikTok, a video that ends cleanly on the pulled-out globe flows straight back into its own opening -- the loop reads as intentional and the rewatch counts. That's the cheapest engagement you'll ever get.
